Wednesday 08 09:00 PM | CHRYSTELLE MAECHLER TRIO
Chrystelle Maechler is a self-taught French singer with an unusual profile. It was during her very first jam session performance in Stuttgart, Germany in 2001 that she first sang jazz and blues. From that moment, she was part of the jazz community of Southern-Germany. Chrystelle, who started a career far away from the musical world, was immersed in it. Because indeed, she has a special voice color! Critics in Germany say about her: «She possesses a voice like the great blues singers of the 20s like Alberta Hunter or Bessie Smith». This natural blues voice has grown over the years and carries her travels, musical encounters in Mississippi, Louisiana, Germany and Québec as well as her own music influences: blues, R&B, jazz, soul, funk, trip-hop. She has been working with jazz saxophonist Jean-Christophe Béney since 2009, a team that gave birth to the band ORANGE KITCHEN in April 2010. One of their “jazzified » song is broadcasted on Planète Jazz 91.9. 2010 is a year of important musical projects for Chrystelle who also launched a more organic trio whose motto is back to the basics, to simplicity: African percussions, soul voice and jazz piano should suffice. That was the birth of the PERCU JAZZ project.
