MISC

One of Canada's preeminent saxophone talents, Al McLean owns the night in the grand old Jazz city of Montreal. Mentoring countless students of the music, McLean's brute force, and seemingly bottomless depths as an improviser set a unique standard of excellence.  With an equally nimble command of bebop, and more avant garde repertoire rooted in the language of Coltrane, McLean is sought after by both Canadian and international players.

JEAN-MICHEL PILC TRIO

Jean-Michel Pilc (born 1960 in Paris, France) is a self-taught jazz pianist currently residing in Montreal. Of particular note is Pilc's left-hand technique, which provides an almost ambidextrous approach to the keyboard. In addition to his own projects, he is a member of a group led by drummer Ari Hoenig and since September 2015, Jean-Michel is an Associate Professor at The Schulich School of Music of McGill University in Montreal.
