AL MCLEAN TRIO

Hands down Montreal's preeminent talent of the Jazz saxophone, Al McLean owns the night in this grand old Jazz city. Mentoring countless students of the music, McLean's brute force, and seemingly bottomless depths as an improviser keep his professional cohorts honest. The bar he sets is sky high, with an equally nimble command of bebop, and more avant garde repertoire rooted in the language of Coltrane. McLean is also a sought after saxophone restoration expert. Specializing in vintage instruments from the first half of the 20th Century, McLean makes the old horns sing. He can be found most nights of the week in Montreal's numerous Jazz hot spots, glittering vintage horn in hand, wowing audiences, inspiring (or unnerving) his band mates.

KIM RICHARDSON TRIO

With her undeniable voice and talent, it’s no surprise that critics have hailed Kim Richardson since she first appeared on the Canadian music scene. At just 14, she was already singing in clubs and taking her first steps in the theatre. Gifted with an enchanting voice, she won two Juno Awards for her debut singles in 1986 and 1987, adding a third trophy to her collection as part of the group The Merlin Factor in 1994. At ease in all musical styles, she has shared the stage with Barry White, Stevie Wonder and Celine Dion. She gave free rein to her love of blues and soul on her debut solo album Kaleidoscope (2006), co-produced with Nanette Workman. Richardson made her silver screen debut in Funkytown and proved she was equally adept in two languages with her first album in French, Mes amours, featuring covers of artists from Gilbert Bécaud to Jean-Pierre Ferland.

FRANçOIS BOURASSA TRIO

After nine albums of original material, François Bourassa has become an ambassador for Québec’s thriving jazz community at an international level. A paragon of both consistency and evolution, he continues to seek out new challenges for himself, his colleagues and his growing community of listeners. His most recent album, Number 9 (2017), chronicles his discography while also providing a subtle namecheck to the Beatles’ psychedelic oeuvre, “Revolution #9” and The White Album. One highlight of the album, “C&K,” salutes two more of Bourassa’s guiding influences: Carla Bley (to whom he paid tribute at the Montreal Jazz Festival with the Orchestre National de Jazz de Montréal) and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Number 9 was heralded as one of the best Canadian jazz albums of 2017 (Peter Hum, Ottawa Citizen) and praised by Bley herself as a “wondrous piece of work.”

CARL MAYOTTE TRIO

Beginning to play in several events and bars in the Quebec region at the age of 16, I have sailed these past years through different styles and musical universes. Traveling with my art through Quebec, and several times in France, and playing with many artists and musical bands of all kinds, from Bruno Pelletier to several Europe’s Big Bands. Through these adventures, I completed a Technical program at Notre-Dame de Foy Campus, a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Interpretation at Laval University and a Master's degree from the Jazz Faculty of McGill University. These studies allowed me, among other things, to make me grow as a musician and especially as an arranger and composer. Techniques that allow me to make musical arrangements to make a living. Be it arrangements for symphonic orchestra for Chloé St-Marie, choirs of the Quebec City area or for producing and producing more than 5 albums in the last 5 years, including Sénescence, from the Nouvelle R group released in 2018, and my upcoming opus: Fantosme, an album that was co-directed with the great Michel Cusson. This album have led me to win Radio Canada Jazz Revelation in 2020.

JACQUES KUBA-SéGUIN TRIO

Drawing from his Eastern European roots, the trumpet player and composer Jacques Kuba Seguin invite us to share his eclectic universe. Revelation jazz of Radio Canada 2012-2013, his music is tinded of folk traditions and jazz harmonies, going until the ethereal atmospheres of electronica converge. In 2015, he was nominated for ADISQ awards in two categories: best arranger and jazz album of the year for L'élévation du point de chute and, in 2016, for Litania Projekt with the Quatuor Bozzini in the same two categories. In 2015 again, he was nominated for a Prix Opus for jazz album of the year for L'élévation du point de chute, and for jazz and world music concert of the year for his 2014 Montreal International Jazz Festival show. Adventurous and multi-talented, trumpeter Jacques Kuba Séguin's musical repertoire is by turns melodic, explosive, and accessible. As a performer, he is definitely a showman, and he is recognized as one of the most brilliant trumpeters of his generation.
