A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Al McLean has resided in Montreal since 1995. He is a sought-after freelance saxophonist, and professor saxophone at McGill University. Al McLean is long time member of the Brian Hurley Quartet, Joe Sullivan Sextet, Josh Rager Sextet, and featured soloist, composer, and arranger for the Joe Sullivan Big Band, and the Vic Vogel Big Band, and has performed and recorded worldwide with countless artists of every style of music, including Susan Anton, Offenbach, Herb Ried, Boule Noir, Lenny White, Tyler Mitchell, George Garzone, and Slide Hampton.Al has fortified his roots in acoustic jazz with his first and long-awaited quartet recording “Personal Transit”, to be released on September 19th, 2008. Al McLean’s improvisations have been described as “a fluid, masterful account of the entire lineage of the tenor saxophone”.

The Phoenix is a band of seasoned Montreal-based musicians: Fraser Hollins, Samuel Blais, Carlos Jiménez, and Rich Irwin. Fraser assembled the group in the spring of 2021, when venues started to open up again after the Pandemic. In the two year history of the band, they have performed a dozen concerts at jazz clubs and jazz festivals in Quebec and Ontario. Their repertoire consists of a book of mostly new compositions written by Fraser for this dynamic group.

Olivier Hébert offers a mini fanfare combining the power of the brass and the agility of a small formation. He composes for this quartet inspired by the legendary ‘pocket brass band’ of trombonist Ray Anderson.
He draws from various musical currents, flirting with funk, blues, swing and even cumbia. This formation highlights on the one hand the talent of the instrumentalists-improvisers and on the other hand the creativity of the composer.
Rang C, EP launched last November, follows the second album entitled Correspondance, launched in 2019.

Bellbird is a newly formed collective of Montreal-based musicians. Their unique instrumentation of two woodwinds, bass, and drums allows them to explore sonic landscapes that allude to harmony without being restricted by it. Bellbird’s music is inspired by the sounds of nature and the shared experience between humans and other-than-humans. Original compositions by each band member showcase their diverse sets of influences, including jazz, avant-garde, and folk music.
In January 2023, Bellbird recorded their debut album at Wild Studio in Saint-Zénon, Québec, which is set to be released in August of 2023. Cover charge: 20$ |

In June 2022, Annie Dominique Quintet released her third album, Réfléchir la nuit.

Montreal-based saxophonist, composer and conductor Christine Jensen has traveled the world with her music.
Honored with the Oscar Peterson Award in 2017 at the International Jazz Festival, she was also the recipient of two Juno Awards for her recordings with her jazz orchestra.
This year, she is back with a new project in a quartet formula, surrounded by three talented musicians: Steve Amirault (piano), Adrian Vedady (double bass), and Jim Doxas (drums). The Christine Jensen Quartet released its new album Day Moon on June 16, 2023, under the label Justin Time Records.
