DANIEL THOUIN INVITE CORAL EGAN

Daniel Thouin was 7 when he first sat behind the family organ. Ten years later, he was studying classical piano. Soon, he started flirting with the jazz scene. Then, he took an interest in electronica and pop music, collaborating with the likes of Mara Tremblay, Yann Perreau and Marie-Jo Thério. In 2002, Thouin assembled the Large Ensemble, an all-star local group mixing jazz and rock. Informed by Miles Davis' late sixties experiments, Thouin and friends (Yannick Rieu, Olivier Langevin...) used the band to flex their improvisational muscles.

Coral Egan has known critical and public acclaim since the beginning of her recording career. She has had a successful career in Quebec, Canada and beyond. Her first solo album, The Path of Least Resistance, was nominated for a Felix and a Juno in 2002. The three subsequent albums of almost exclusively original material, My Favorite Distraction (2004) (2 Felix awards) Magnify (2007) and The Year He Drove Me Crazy (2012), (nominations for both Felix and Juno awards).

MARC COPLAND TRIO

Marc Copland (born May 29, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American jazz pianist and composer. Copland became part of the jazz scene in Philadelphia in the early 1960s as a saxophonist, and later moved to New York. In the early 1970s, while pursuing his own harmonic concept, he grew dissatisfied with what he felt were inherent limitations in the saxophone and moved to the Baltimore-Washington D.C. area, where he remained for a decade to retrain as a jazz pianist. He returned to New York in the mid-1980s, his own keyboard style firmly in place. Since that time Copland has enjoyed considerable success, both as a solo performer and a group leader. He is generally regarded as a harmonic innovator, and perhaps the leading exponent today of the school of lyrical jazz piano. Acclaimed recordings include "Night Whispers" (Down Beat Magazine/USA list of best CDs of the decade), "Crosstalk" ("Choc" Jazz Magazine/Fr), and other projects with musicians including musicians and collaborators such as John Abercrombie, Drew Gress, Greg Osby, Gary Peacock, and Bill Stewart.

RACHEL THERRIEN QUARTET PRéSENTE VENA - LANCEMENT D’ALBUM ET SPECTACLE
